Nathalie Douet

French self-taught painter Nathalie Douet has developed an intuitive practice shaped by transformation, resilience and a search for inner balance. Her work grows from a contemplative relationship with nature and from the freedom to move between techniques without being confined to a single style. Working with acrylic, ink and glass, she explores transparency, layering, depth and luminosity. References to Kintsugi and the Japanese Enso echo throughout her practice, where fragility, imperfection and reconstruction become sources of strength rather than something to conceal. The green colour occupies a central place in her visual language, associated with life, renewal and inner peace. Botanical forms, flowers and curved lines suggest the movement of water, wind and vital energy, while transparency creates a passage between the visible and the invisible. Her work also reflects on interconnectedness and permanence. In Échos lumineux, inspired by the Buddhist metaphor of Indra's Net, each form seems to exist in relation to the whole; in her landscapes, traces, structures and memories become meditations on what remains through time. Le Cri de la Terre – Incendie, born from the fires in Gironde, moves between mourning, urgency and resilience. Across these different series, Nathalie Douet invites the viewer to slow down and remain with the image. Rather than reproducing nature literally, she seeks the moment when light meets matter and observation becomes a more interior, personal experience.
