CHW's artistic practice unfolds at the intersection of abstraction, memory, and social reflection. Working intuitively across painting, mixed media, and portraiture, the Berlin-based artist explores the fragile balance between disruption and renewal, translating contemporary anxieties into layered visual experiences.
Color plays a central role throughout her work. Through successive applications of pigment, gesture, and transparency, CHW creates compositions that oscillate between tension and harmony, revealing unexpected spaces of reflection beneath seemingly chaotic surfaces. Her paintings do not illustrate specific events; rather, they evoke emotional landscapes shaped by uncertainty, conflict, resilience, and hope.
Alongside her abstract works, recent portraits expand this investigation into questions of identity, memory, and perception. Pieces such as Before Botox I, Who am I?, and Sibyll's Truth reveal her interest in the multiple layers that shape both personal and collective experience.
Influenced by Joseph Beuys' concept of social sculpture, CHW approaches art as a space for dialogue rather than certainty. Across abstraction and figuration alike, her work invites viewers to navigate complexity, question appearances, and imagine new possibilities beyond the visible surface.
